If you wish to go ahead and reserve a campsite through Reserve America, that’s fine. But know this: the local park manager has set aside, 50 sites for NDOG 2024, and nobody can rent those through reserve America. If you go ahead and reserve one, that’s fine, there’s no price difference. It’s really not any big deal either way, but please let me know which site you are reserving.
Campsites at Indiana state parks fill up VERY fast, especially since COVID. Even if you don't register for the event I would HIGHLY suggest you register a campsite if there is a 75% probability you are coming in June. You can cancel and get that money back (Check when you call to do the registration as I have no gotten their official process for our special registration process but I don't think it is a a problem). If you don't get a spot at Spring Mill I am not sure how far you might have to travel to camp.
You have to pay the initial entrance fee (even if you have a camping reservation). Out-of-state fee is $9. But you only pay that the 1st time you enter the park. Then your camping mirror tag gets you free admittance for subsequent re-entries.
Tent camping is allowed at Spring Mill State Park
The bathrooms in the campgrounds are clean but the TP is the world's cheapest!
Every site at the park has water within a reasonable distance. Some require long hoses. I'll try to have a few extra hoses to loan should you literally "come up short"!
Indiana State Parks requires that wood must be local OR imported WITHOUT bark. This is subject to a $500 fine.
Internet service at the campgrounds got 1000% better in the last year. If you have AT&T you can definitely stream ballgames and movies from your camper. I am not familiar with other providers but my understanding is their are not quite as good as AT&T.
If you are over 65 OR have a social-security-defined disability you quality for a golf cart at Indiana State Parks
Southern Indiana Trailer Sales will begin taking reservations in April. Please don't call before April. Their number is 812-849-7668.
